1  Clear Lake Fishing / Clear Lake Catfish / Re: Overnight Clearlake Trip on: May 31, 2012, 08:19:39 PM
I have only been out to the lake a few times, but good fishing each of those times. My only problem is I  cannot find a map that shows locations you all talk about. The only one I know of (I think) is "Bass Alley" across from the docks at RedBud. I drifted from the point to the island and did quite well.  Is there a map with all the nicknamed locations?

Diddnt make it,  got off work late and figured I wouldnt make it before the store closed. Ill try again soon though, My understanding is that the non-resident sticker is good for the calander month?  If so my best bet is to get over for a day trip early in the month then Id be good for the remainder?   Also, the store you listed the one at the redbud boat ramp?
3  Clear Lake Fishing / Clear Lake Info and Chat / Mussel inspection Info on: May 20, 2012, 08:40:05 PM
Any new or updated info on these inspections or the locations?  Im in Rio Linda (outside Sac) and hope to be over there on this Sat but I might not get there untill 5PMish.  Does the bait store at Redbud still do the inspections? Will they be open that late?

If its dead, I dont think there is an issue. I think they are concerned with live (invasive) species, then again desiese could also be an issue....

Depth started out around 16ft, near the buoy and down to 9ft near the island.   If that is the place, right across from the docks at Redbud.

First of all, thanks for all the info in these forums, helped me alot in choosing where to go.
11:00 AM {late start} Our 1st drift down bass alley {I think its bass alley, first time on the lake} the father in law hooked into a 7 lb cat on stinkbait, 5 min later the daughter got a 6.5 cat on mackerel.  2nd drift father in law gets a 10 lbr on the stinkbait and the niece gets a nice bass on crawlers.  3rd  drift I get to wet a line as the kids sit it out abit and hook a 5 lbr on mackerel, then the in law gets a nice bass on stinkbait  Shocked
the wind had picked up a tad so we putted around the lake to see what would break on the boat. { 2nd time in the water, 1st time I discovered the stern drive was kaput, striped water pump shaft}
The winds died down so we headed back to try our luck again and I hooked a 8.5 lbr on mackerel and then a 9 lbr.
All were fat and released back to provide pleasure to others in the future.
Water temp was 76, and lots of Green out there, but the fish didnt seem to mind it, I however passed on taking a dip to cool off  Tongue

Two questions for those in the know of the lake,   First, a few of the cats had 'leaches' or similar on them, kinda freaked out the daughter, and 2nd, where do you guys hide all the 1 and 2 ponders????   I dont think Ive seen them mentioned on the boards. Do you guys catch them and not admit it? Or did I get 'lucky' and miss them all?
