Hey guys I don't know about any of you guys know this guy but Ron Catman Smothers is one of the greatest catfishing masters out there and today i was chatting with him on the phone and getting some great advice on starting my catfish guides business and talking about his huge record 89 lbs kitty at lake Irvine where he guides it took him 1 hour and 15 minutes to land that monster on 15 lbs test line What a fight that must have been angling We also talked about the clear lake derby and guess what he is coming up here for the first time to fish our derby and what a challenge this will be for me as he is one of the masters worthy But we are going to hook up the thursday before the derby and show him around the lake and get registered for the derby catch some dinner then friday at noon take no prisoners roflmao the derby will be on. I just thought i would let all you serious catfisherman know a master will be attending our derby this year and he knows how to catch big kitty's i think anyways. Thumbs up rock! his website is catmandobaits.com

Always good to have a few celebs in on an event like this. I'm really looking forward to it this year.  I was just getting my feet wet, with the shop here, when the derby came around last year.  This year we're going to have a lot of fun with it!!!  I've got a few ideas brewing...

Thumbs up  Hope to meet you guys and hopefully you'll make that trip down south to fish my lakes.  Not sure if I'll really make it due to the long drive, but we'll see.  Until then, meeeeoooouuttt and good fishing! angryfire

Hey Guys.  Looks like I won't be able to make it down for the derby. Cry  It's just too expensive.  I estimate the total cost to be near $600.  I'd have to take first. roflmao  So, you guys have fun. fisher  Hit me up when you come down this way.  Later. rock!

cmon baby rain baby rain this friday and saturday!!!!! rain

In my book, rain is better than wind.  I'll be in my boat for 48 hours straight regardless of the conditions.  Good luck to all. . . .

thats what we are talking about, we will be out there no matter how bad it gets so bring on the rain, this will cut down on the fair weather catfishermen in the derby and ESPECIALLY the boat traffic going back and forth through our spot

they are calling for 16mph winds friday night and saturday

Well we at least know its not legcramp  angling roflmao I myself would love to see a kid break the lake record what a story to tell and the battle to tell for that lucky kid the rest of  his life and of course i myself would love a shot at that title worthy rock! But good luck gentlemen and ladys and legcramp roflmao in the derby, i'm looking to kick some big cat butts and remember rain is coming this derby so stay dry I know i will be dry in my boat and I am also out there for the total time.  Dan rock!
