??? & where else?...  Wife got a new digital SLR camera, wanted to take soem pics, so we motored up to Rodman yesterday evening....shut the boat down....&...."What's that smell?..."  About a million dead shad.  But lots of birds.

So, is this just the shad life cycle or what?...

Hi lionkiller, I'm not sure if what you encountered is their life cycle or not but it's fairly common to have shad die offs on Clear Lake. They had some fairly significant multi species die-offs in the Lakeport area earlier this year. Hopefully this is just their life cycle as you suggested.
