I know the weather has kept most folks off the water but the long range forecast is looking a little better and the Catfish Derby starts next Friday.  I hope some members are going to fish it and maybe get in the money Tongue
I'm going to enter but I probably won't fish a lot of hours. I'll definitely be at the awards ceremony at noon on Sunday and hope to see some of you there. Even if you don't fish, I recommend showing up on Sunday for the BBQ and drawings.

Good luck to all the participants and especially to members of this board.

The BBQ starts around 11:00 am or so. The awards are supposed to start at 12 noon on Sunday but it usually doesn't get going till about 1:00 pm because they have to give lie detector tests to the top 5 or 6 winners.

Hope to see you there.

Whats up guys!

I'm picking my brother up at 10;00PM Wednsday at the airport. He came from Seattle for this tournament. So look out!  the other Freak is going to be in town! Haha  We've been catfishing since we were 7 and 5yrs old.

We should be on the lake by 12:00 noon thursday. As for prefishin, I was going to but the weather has not changed alot in the last few weeks. I got my holes and with it probably being a slow bite I figured I would wait till it counts.

We'll be at M&M campground, introduce yourself if you like you can't miss us.  If the boat is gone and the truck is there feel free to leave a message. Leave it on the winsheildwhiper.

Goodluck to everyone, hope to see you there.

Happy fishin

Ed I went up Friday after work to the top of the lake and fished hard all evening and thru the night. Came up with a half dozen but nothing to write home about. Tried the south end and the state park yesterday and last night and I believe that I found my fishing hole. All I can say is that they were hitting on Mackeral and a gob of crawlers. My son and I returned this morning to keep Mother's Day peace in the house. But we will be up there come this Friday in the afternoon. Good luck to those pre fishing. I will say that the bite was tough till I found the right area.  Mike (Rockhopper)

I just moved to the keysa from Southern California. New to lake fishing. What are the fish biting on in the keys? I have caught 2 cats one on a nightcrawler and one on a live crawdad but have been skunked the last 4 nights. Any tips for a former saltwater fisherman?

Hey Ed!   I t looks like you were right about the weather changing for the better. I don't know if the lake will warm up enough to help the fishing but it will make waiting for a bite a lot more pleasant!  I didn't get to do any pre-fishing but I'm ready for the tournament anyway. We (my father, my son, and a partner, and I) will probably fish the Clear Lake Oaks arm on Friday. I'm afraid the south end will be packed and a bunch of rookies will just be in the way of the fleet!!! We'll play it by ear from there. I will definately try to catch up with you on Sunday at the BBQ.  Good luck to all and keep those reports coming. I can use all the help I can get.       P. S. Ed! Don't forget to post a picture of the big one you catch.  You're due to win this thing!!!!        midcourt

                            Hi newtothelake,

I heard they're catching a few with shrimp and crawdad tails but hot dog slices are a good bait, especially in the Keys. Good luck to you.

HI NEWTOTHE LAKE,

I'VE LIVED IN THE KEYS FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. YESTERDAY I PICKED UP 2 CATS OFF MY DOCK. ONE BROKE MY 30# TEST LINE. THE 2 CATS WEIGHED 5# EACH. THEY WERE CAUGHT ON SHAD AT NITE.

CALL ME IF YOU WANT MORE INFO.998-2185.

Hi Vic,

Thanks for your input. I hope to see you here more often. I'm sure you could give us some good info on fishing the Keys.

Maybe I'll see you this weekend while I'm fishing the derby. With the winds they're predicting I'll be fishing in the Keys most of the time.
