Any and all advice would be great. Ive been reading all the old topics and I am pumped to do my 1st derby in 2010. I'm going to try to get my buddy to join with me, he has a lil fishing boat.

I'm from Ceres/Modesto and never fished Clear lake. I'm just wondering how the entire weekend goes from Th-Sun. Do people hang out  bb que/ have a few sodas, etc night before?
Does everyone usually fish non-stop? Take breaks? All day/night? LOL, I think I would be fishing non stop.
I have access to a camping trailer and if my buddy goes he has a boat. Would it be best to get a camping site somewhere? Hotel? other?
If my buddy doesn't join, is there a legit chance to get nice fish of the shore on this weekend with out being " dead $$$$" lol?
If I where to catch a 18 lb or bigger fish, should you quit fishing an go weigh in right away if their open to make sure they dont die?

So many question I have, lol. I am real excited about this Derby after reading all your posts and seeing the pics of the great fish.
Thank you in advance if any on has weekend tips/info.

Thx Russ

You should make it happen. If you love fishin, you will love this derby.I have done it about 10 years now and money fish or not I have a good time.I would say a boat is important if possible.Bank access kindof  sucks around clearlake, and I like to move around and look for fish.

I talked to 2 of my buddies and were going to do it for sure.  I guess the first year we enter will be a good learning lesson and then well be set for the future. Very excited about this.

Expect to have a lot of fun!  Wink

Just hope the lake level is up to where we would like it to be.  Crosses fingers

The hills and mountains are currently saturated with dark clouds all around.
