Made a pit stop at Lake Mendocino back on 9/16/09 on my way to Willits and found the launch ramp off Highway 20 closed due to low lake level.

Thinking the lake level was up from the storm last month, I made another stop today while on my way to Willits to scout for a possible fishing excursion this week, and found the level even lower, with the launch ramp off highway 20 still closed.  Tongue

I'm assuming they want the reservoir low due to upcoming winter storms.  unsure

Did not have time to check the other boat ramp near the dam. Does anyone know if it is open? I would love to hit that Fall striper bite.  Wink

Here are a few pictures at the ramp off Highway 20.

The US Army Corp of Engineers controls the water in Mendocino. Although the USACE is well known for screwing up lakes and reservoirs all over this country, some of the blame at Mendocino goes to Sonoma County who have the water rights to Mendocino. crazy! crazy2
