The pier, which is the first phase of the Third Avenue Plaza Project, is open to the public from now until the start of the second phase of the project, which is slated for late summer.

The newly constructed fishing pier extends 180 feet out into Clear Lake, offering residents and visitors stunning views of the vastness of Clear Lake and the backdrop of Mount Konocti while providing anglers with impressive overwater access.

The pier is constructed of steel and concrete with a steel railing with stainless steel cable detail.

At the end of walkway is a large gazebo with an Alpine-styled roofline that sits atop a 60-foot-by-40-foot platform.

A number of benches are set along the platform, and several tables are placed beneath the shade of the gazebo, which creates a great spot for picnics. The park is open from dawn to dusk.
Nice addition to Clear Lake.  clap! clap!

Yep... at a guesstimate of $1,500 construction cost per foot, very nice fishing pier.  Grin

One of the best fishing piers I've seen around Clear Lake!  Thumbs up

Well actually I read a very encouraging comment over on http://lakeconews.com/ which is where I got the photo:
"Glad you truly hoped you were wrong CatfishEd - because you are I am happy to say. The Sheriff's Office has been fabulous at keeping the brownbagboozers away - they now head down into Morrison Creek between the fence by the Lucerne on the Lake and the bridge over the creek. Out of sight - yes, but not out of mind - we know where to find you if the SO needs you. Have seen so many families with children out there enjoying the beauty of our Basin. It will be great when little shops can start opening around this project. Glad it is steel and concrete - good planning for the future!"

That sounds good to me Ed. Of course, it's up to us citizens to really make the difference by reporting problems and being good stewards.
