It seems the locals have formed another conspiracy to produce crappy weather to keep the touristas away, and crappy weather they have.  I launched late Wed eve at Redbud in a howling wind, boat docks rocking and thumping and waves breaking on the ramp.  The water surface was 68 degrees and dropped to 65 by today.  I holed up in the creek for the night and managed one 12 pounder Thurs morning.

I got to hook up with my brother, Captain Doug, from N. Carolina, and we went a driftin' out in the wind and the white caps off and on for the next two days.  We got 22 fish, all on mackerel, even though conditions were awful.  Most of the fish were in the 8 to 10 range.  There was, however a 2 and a couple fours.  The wind never let up.  Now you watch.  Now that I'm gone, they will have a beautiful weekend.

There are a lot of algae chunks broken up and suspended in the whitecaps and the foam, so I imagine if it wasn't windy there would be a pretty heavy algae bloom.

So a good time was had by all, and all fish lived to tell about it, unlike Legcramp, who would rather kiss his sister than post a report.

Good job catman. Thumbs up

Say it ain't so on the algae clumps. Really angry!!!

Glad to see the drift scene is picking up.  This warm weather coming up should do wonders for the bite.

Thanks for sharing

Hey guys don't feel too bad about the wind.  I was fishing the delta last Saturday the wind was blowing, but not real bad.
I went back out Sunday afternoon and it was crazy.  The only people who seemed to be having any fun were the jet skiers and water skiers.  The fishing was pretty good on Saturday and just the oposite Sunday.  Right now the wind is blowing pretty good.  According to my weather guy, today should be the last day of high winds with things tappering off by tonite.  Hope as the winds goes the fish start to bite again.

P/s  I got some slab red-ear perch last saturday Thumbs up

Ok Catman you wanted a fishing report here you go popcorn,

After work friday my twin 2yos and I headed to our local guaranteed catch bluegill pond. I was super excited anticipating the catchfest I was expecting for their first actual catches(4th fishing trip - man its hard to put kids onto fish as they tend to throw their fishing rods in the water amongst other things not related to fishing).

We arrived at the pond and walked out the pier to gale force winds. Could not cast out so had to fish the lee side of the pier with bobbers. Fish were not biting at all, we managed 1 bluegill about 3" long. My son caught it and was as happy as if he had just broke the clear lake catfish record. He held it way too tight and kept saying "ish, ISH, ISH!". So I had to tell him to be nice to the fish so he held him lighter then threw him back in the water.

On the drive home when I asked him if he had fun fishing with daddy, he smiled so I asked how big was his fish and held my hands up to show size, he answered "like this" and held his hands outstretched as far as they would go. I shook my head and thought oh man we have another catman on our hands here hilarious!

Baits used: salmon eggs, bumble bee, black fly, frog and mosquito flies and redworms.

I must teach him the trick of "accidentally forgetting" his scale leaving him no choice but to best guess the weight of the fish when he is old enough. best method there is for catching trophy sized fish each and every time out!

That's a great story.  My first born got his first blue gill a gazillion years ago when he was 3.  I sent a picture in to Fishing and Hunting News (if any of you remember that far back) and they printed it for all posterity! Those were the days, my friends.  I thought they'd never end...
