As coincidence would have it, I followed the great Randy-Ken-Carp orgy (in no particular order) and launched at Redbud at 12:01am Friday.  The wind was blowing hard and must have sucked the heat right out of the water, because I was reading 75 degrees.  So I'm out there drifting around in the dark and the wind and the waves for two hours and there was nothing happening  so I took shelter in the creek.  I tied up to Ken's V-fork, which is at Ed's corner, and got one 7 pounder.  At first light I went back out into the lake.  The orgy was still going on but I didn't want to get close for fear of the grass.  The wind continued blowing hard until 10am and then it was pretty decent until it kicked up again after noon.  From first light until 11am I got a couple 5's, couple 6's, a 7, a couple 9's and a ten, for a total of 9 fish for the trip.  That included a double on a one man boat.  That was a little exiting.  Water got as low as 73 in that wind.

As usual, I turned them all loose.  It was interesting to see Ken dismayed at the lack of bigguns, not to mention his personal lack of bigguns.  If he can't get 'em, their IS a problem.  They got Poachin' Ben, the blue gill baitin', hog killer, off the water, so we'll have to wait and see if curtailing his and his posse's activities makes any difference in the future.

I was sorry to hear that Bob of Lakeshore Bait is fighting a health issue.  Bob is a good business man and all around nice guy.  Hope it all works out.

As usual, great report Everett!  clap! clap!

I'm assuming you did not have to deal with algae with the wind blowing and whipping up the lake?  unsure

Good job Everett.

Yeah, that whole carp orgy is a sight to behold.  You can bet there will be cats in there feeding on the eggs after the females deposit them.

And as far as doubles, they just rock rock!

Did you get your fish Friday after daybreak at anchor, or on the drift?  I hate fighting the wind when I drift.  To be honest, I hate wind at anchor too.  I'd almost rather have rain than wind.

I heard about Bob back in May and signed the big card in his shop.  I sure hope he pulls through.  Sounds pretty scary.

Thanks for the report

No algae in that wind, Franz.  You can see little fibers in the water but you would think there is there none unless you  know what to look for. All fish were on the drift.  I would have taken a beating at anchor.

Hey Catman,  Great report. Maybe next time I go with Randy we can meet you out there. I was keeping an eye out for you when we were there.

Happy Fishin and Tight Lines,
