It was caught with a crappie jig off their docks while crappie fishing. A very unusual catch for Clear Lake, especially in the middle of summer in the south end of the lake. crazy! rock!

Should be eating pretty healthy with the huge gnat population currently on the lake.

I know that a long time ago steelhead came up Cache creek and actually spawned in the feeder creeks of Clear Lake in the winter and that trout reside in these creeks today. Do you think he was just washed out of one of those creeks last winter? I assume they wouldn't last all summer in Clear lake or am I wrong. Just trying to pick your guys minds. This intrigues me.  popcorn

Trout can not live long in 75+ degree water temps.

Anything is possible, but I'll remain skeptical.

Some may be able to live year around in the deepest parts of the lake, but even those deep water haunts warm up to near lethal levels during the peak of summer.

OK Randy, remain skeptical if you like but I know the owners of IBR very well. They're hosting and design clients of mine as well as my friends. They did not make this up!!!! Shocked Sad Angry

Not saying you are wrong Ed.

It's just they caught an unlikely fish at an unlikely time.  The resort should mount that thing.

I've seen stranger things .  .  .

Also this past week a fisherman caught a rainbow trout on a crappie jig at the resort's docks. Trout in Clear Lake are extremely rare but occasionally one is caught.

These trout migrate down to the lake from the feeder streams.
From Terry Nights 7/29 http://www.record-bee.com/outdoors/ci_15636754 report.

Probably lasted this late in to the season because of the cold spring/early summer temps we had.
