Witnessed promising results in a few areas yesterday.
Stopped off at the little cove by the Clearlake Park Post Office around 12:30 PM expecting to see the entire enclosure swamped in by algae mats, but, instead, there were only small patches of broken up algae mats in the corners. The majority of navigable water appeared clear of algae.
I noticed the county boat was tied up at the cement pad, so I'm assuming the cove was just recently cleared out.
Next stop was Austin Park Beach and it appeared to have been recently done as the solid mats were 75% gone.
Last stop was Thompson Harbor at Redbud Park. The main bays were pretty much clear of algae mats, except for small residual patches to the far right next to the seawall.
Although the bays appear clear, I would strongly suggest moving your vessel out to deeper clear water before firing up the main motor.
There are still high concentrations of solids below the surface in the launch areas, so chances of plugging up the water intake and overheating your motor could still be a factor.

Too soon to speculate if the problem is under control, but definitely an improvement.

Unfortunately, not much can be done about the foul odor for the moment, but I hope that will dissipate after the mats sink to the bottom.
