Fished off Pine Acres dock for about three hours today. From 3 -6 PM. I was using mini crawlers as bait. Used them with a slip bobber rig at 4ft bellow the bobber. I also tried with a slip sinker on the bottom. Same results for both. No fish.

A troller gave me five of his trout as he eats them "all the time". He was trolling "Arctic Fox Trolling Flies" with a scent he wouldn't share. He was trolling at 15ft. Anyway, they had limited.

The fish he gave me were 10"-14".

Several fisherman had said the best fishing was on the Le Trianon Resort side of the lake. Apparently, the last plant was at that end of the lake. That is what the troller also told me.

They usually plant at The Narrows Resort so it's usually the best spot for dock fishing. The water's really deep there, especially at their center dock.

Good tip. Just remember to take a chair. One reason I like Pine Acres is the benches on the dock plus part of it is covered. Guess I'm getting a bit lazy.  unsure

Wow, they used to have a bunch of chairs out there and they had a nice bench at the right side dock (looking out at the lake). I and many others have caught many nice limits from that right side dock but it's been several years since I've been out there.

In my experience fishing for these planted trout I have had the best luck with rainbow sparkle power bait. Not the power eggs but the stuff that is like paste or dough. Fish it on the bottom with the weight about 10 inches below the hook. It seems it is so similar to what they are fed they just can't resist it. Last time I fished for plants up at Mill Creek Ponds I tried worms, salmon eggs, and different kinds of power bait. The rainbow sparkle power bait was like crack to them!  woot

I can also relate to seeing the trollers limit out and going cold from the banks.

Ed is right about the Narrows. That dock has good access to deep water. I have caught some fish there well after a plant.

Thank you for sharing, always appreciated.  Thumbs up

I might be totally wrong about the Narrows seating. I was going on a friends info as I haven't fished there in ages. I should have confirmed before my post. Thanks for the correction Ed.

Thanks for your bait tip Kraz. It's also appreciated.

Not really a correction, I'm just sharing my experiences from a long time ago. Not really sure what the seating is now. unsure

Any time. I hope you get out there and nail some keepers. Nothing like fresh trout. My grandpa planted a lemon tree in his back yard just for addin some flavor to the fried trout he loved so much. Every time I eat it reminds me of him.

Just want to echo the red sparkle power bait.  That stuff is spanish fly for planters.  I used it on the section of Russian River above Lake Mendo, first bridge at Potter Valley turn off.  It hit with the midas touch.  Worked the same at Mill Creek, though I stopped fishing there when it started to feel like the fish farm.
