I was wondering if anyone has the regulation about fishing access around marinas and other areas that people fish.  If my memory serves me correctly, Franz posted some information on this subject some time ago.  If anyone has any information I would appreciate you sending it to me.

Thanks,
Len

You can't block ingress and egress to a harbor or block access to a gas pump. You can't tie off to a privately owned dock. There are still crazy folks who will shoot you or come close. Basic common courtesy should keep you out of trouble. Anywhere you can float your boat is usually good.

Some tournament organizations have their own rules.

Thanks for your info Greg.  I'm not really having any problems right now, but I was told by the harbor master at one of the places I been fishing lately that I could not anchor my boat in the marina area.  I know that you can't tie up to the docks of boat slips, but it seem rather silly to tell people that they can't anchor in certain areas on public water.  My neighbor called the Fish and Game and the info he got was as long as you don't block someone in who is leaving or entering the marina then you can anchor your boat.  He suggested that if someone was trying to exit or enter where you are fishing the proper thing to do would be to move and allow them to enter or leave.  I can understand people who run these marinas where people pay to have their boats berthed there having concerns about people fishing in the area, but some of these people just don't want people fishing there regardless.  I'm not a theif nor do I approve of any person who does steal.  I will gladly report anyone I see damaging or taking property that does not belong to them, but please don't try to take away my right to fish where I choose to fish as long as I obey the regulations.  License to fish in this state cost too much money to have people harrassing you unnecessarilly.

Tight Lines,
Len

Sounds to me like that harbormaster is trying to intimidate you with BS.

Obviously you have to practice common courtesy with boats entering or leaving the harbor and I know you practice common courtesy at all times anyway so it should be no problem.
