On Monday I'll head to Stanford Medical Center to have a surgery I've wanted since my Birthday in February when things went really haywire for me. I can't believe it has taken me this long to get scheduled. If I'd stuck with Mayo in MN, I'd still have a month more to wait. I'll be undergoing a Radical Cystoprostatectomy and having a few more things done while I'm open.
The surgery has a 2% mortality rate, so I'm concerned and I'll be on the table for 6-10 hours. Barring infections I'll be back home in 7-10 days.
I started watching an operation like it on YouTube and within 20 seconds felt queasy. I'll watch it after I get home alive.
I know each and everyone of you will miss me.

Welcome back. I guess your operation went as well as could be expected. Best of luck on the rest of your recovery. As for the traffic,welcome to my world. I drive for a living, primarily in the greater Bay Area. It's a darn good thing that this ain't Texas where everybody's got a piece either in their glovebox or behind the seat or there would be more than just gang-bangers getting shot every evening...  Yesterday evening I witnessed a long, very heated exchange between two older (grey haired) guys at the local Costco gas pumps. I stuck around a couple extra minutes just in case there was a need to call 911 or be a witness... I can only assume that they both were taking something that works well for a "low T" condition... |

Good to hear you home and recovering Greg. Yeah I hate traffic. Avoid it if I can. Sometimes no way around it. Heck even Ukiah is getting bad these days.  |

Amen to that,my feelings exactly. The consolation in my case is that driving is only 10 to 20% of my usual day. The rest of my day is "ground-pounding". The freeway situation was bad enough before but it's even worse now with the popularity (and addictions) of smart-phones, Facebook and texting in general. I could tell you some stories...and so could the CHP. If nothing else, Your trip home should've reminded you of how blessed you all are up there not having to deal with it in order to pay your bills. If I live to see retirement age (and still have a couple of quarters to rub together) I would love to live in a place where I'd actually need to use my bright lights on my way home at night and where the locals actually know what to do at a 4-way stop without a cop or someone else directing traffic...  Best of luck on the rest of your recovery. Lord knows there's some bass in that pond with your name on 'em. Write us a report, especially if you stumble into a boat-load of crappie while you're looking for that wall-hanger bass. |
