I took a couple of friends from another fishing website to Clear Lake last Friday.  We started fishing around 3:00pm on Friday and stopped fishing at 9am on Saturday.  We boated 22 channel cats for a combined weight of 236 pounds or a 10.73 pound average. Franks big channel was 14 pounds (he got two 14's), mine was 15, and the last fish of the trip was Robb's biggest at 16.5 pounds. 16 of the 22 channel cats were double digit fish. 2/3 of the fish came on the drift and the rest at anchor.  Had two or 3 doubles while drifting.  The bite was really slow after midnight which allowed for a few hours of sleep.  Water temps were 73 degrees.  Launched out of Redbud.  Frank and Robb were happy to catch some fish and they took a few 8 pounders home for the table.  All the rest were CPR'd.  Algae particles on the surface are starting to show in open water.  Weed growth is beginning to show in shallower water and near Indian Island.  Talked to several boats at the ramp who were disappointed in that they were only able to get a couple of cats for their efforts.  Gave some intel & some bait to a frustrated group who had pulled their boat out of the water after a 2 day trip with limited success.  They promptly launched back into the lake.  I hope they used the info to get some fish.  Didn't see any broken glass in the parking lot.  But what's up with the pervs who write their phone number on the bathroom walls saying that they are looking for some trouser sausage?  And then you come out after taking a leak and there's some greasy looking freak giving you the lazy eye.  There are far too many shady characters hanging out in the park for my liking, even at 10am.  Anyway, that's the report.

Tight lines

you fish for catfish, they fish for trouser trout.  Glad to see Clear Lake is still a wholesome place.

Thanks for the report.

Sounds like you did real well. Congrats.

I went back out Friday for a few afternoon hours for nada.

I also saw the algae all over cache creek, right up to the surface and thick in spots.

Bait shop said the bite is on.

I noticed people in the bushes/trees next to the far left lane at the launch ramp.

Keep on alert at Red Bud.
