M & M Campground
A few carp are caught

September 28, 2003

Mick from Santa Rosa and his son Ethan arrived at M & M Campground at around noon on Saturday September 27th for a 24 hour carp fishing session. Mary and I and my friend Bill Cline (a new carp fishing convert and CAG member) arrived on Sunday morning at daybreak. Mick informed us that the bite was a bit slow but they had caught about 6 carp including Ethan's new PB (at that time) of 14 lbs.

Mary, Bill and I set up our gear and started fishing but there was very little action for us. Mary caught a small catfish and Bill had a good fish on but lost it almost immediately. Ethan had a screaming run and skillfully played a 16 lb'er to the net which was his new PB. Bill had to leave at about 9:00 am and then Mick and Ethan caught several more carp while Mary and I had a few light takes but caught nothing. Finally at around 11:30 am Mary got a screaming run and after a fierce battle landed a nice fish of about 8 lbs. We left shortly after that but Mick and Ethan stayed awhile longer and caught a few more carp up to about 13 lbs. Everyone caught fish except Bill and I. Bill had a good excuse as he only fished for a couple of hours. I fished from daybreak (6:30 am) till 12 noon without a decent take and I have no excuse.
